This week I was very fortunate to receive an email from Daniel who sent me a couple of pictures of his own Catan collection.
It is a very impressive collection, especially when laid out like this!Notable items I spotted were the "Das Wasser des Lebens" tin (The Water of Life). This is the increasingly hard to find Scottish Whisky themed game from 1997. Also it is the rarer embossed tin, rather than the more common printed one.
Also really good to see "Das Buch zum Spielen" (usually just called Das Buch or The Book) in the stack of German and Dutch boxes at the back. "Das Buch" from 2000 was a series of additions and scenarios for Catan that took the game to a whole new level, Many of them were developed into features of the later core expansions. I always say Das Buch is a must when anyone asks me what they should add to their Catan collection.
Other cool things include my favourite spin-off Ancient Egypt, the full set of Dutch boxed scenarios and the always nice to see original English first and second editions from way back in 1996.
