I am slowly progressing with the mammoth project to create my own little Catan museum. As there has been some progress I thought it was time to do another update (read my first update here). I am in no real rush to finish as I see this as a long-term project that helps me relax.
This month I have got the last of the shelving units I need. I have bought 4 units for the centre of the main room. I now have 24 shelving units spread over two of the three rooms in the display area. The third room is my spares room and also is my office. In total I now have around 1,000 square feet dedicated to Catan.
The main area in the image below is mostly my English Catan. Of the almost 300 items I have identified in my English product list, I now have over 96% of them. The last items to find will be a challenge, but I will get there.
For the game display units, the goal is still to have on show each different box in the set, along with an example of the contents. The reason there look to be so many similar boxes on the shelves is because I collect each edition and each copyright version within the edition. None of these sets are for sale - I am a collector only.
Below are a series of photos covering the rest of the display. While getting the items onto stands takes time, it is the easy bit. Making up the labels for each game with a brief explanation and history will take much longer. It will be a retirement project most likely.
Clicking an image below will open a larger version in a new window. My collection is also now open to visitors again. I was pleased to welcome my first guests at my new location just the other week.
