Introduction
This is a spin-off of the Fog Island scenario from Seafarers. The contours of the map are the same, but in this scenario the land hidden by mist consists solely of tropical jungles, volcanoes, and gold mines.
Setup
Setup the map as shown above, leaving a blank area in the middle of undiscovered hexes. Take the following hexes and number tiles and place them into piles facedown. Shuffle them randomly and set them aside.
– 4 volcanoes
– 4 jungles
– 2 gold fields
– 2 sea
Numbers for Hidden Hexes
Set aside the 10 numbers for use on the discovered hexes. These should be one of each number from 2 to 12 (excluding a 7 of course). There are 12 hidden hexes but only 10 numbers are required as the sea hexes do not need them.
As an alternative, and if you have a spare set of number counters, you can also play the original Catakatoa volcano rules where the number changes after each eruption. Starting with the number two and changing in numerical order until the twelve number has been thrown. After this number all the volcano hexes are dormant. Playing this rule means you only need 6 single number counters for the Jungles and Gold Fields. These can be 3, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 11.

Jungle Rules

Initial Placements
Your initial two placements may be on either or both of the two original islands.
Rules of Discovery
Similar to Fog Island, when a player uncovers a new land tile, he receives an award for that tile. If it is Gold, or a Volcano, he may take one resource card of his choice. When a Jungle tile is drawn, the player receives one Discovery Token.
