This set features the title of the game in yellow text. I have been unable to find why two versions of the box lid exist when all other features remain the same. One presumes it was a mistake that was corrected.

The set featured new rear artwork, an updated copyright date and introduced the "Made in the USA" detail.

Both the Catan base game and C&K had 4th edition reprints of the 5/6 player set (2012 and 2014 respectively).  After looking for a long time I thought a Seafarers reprint had not been released. However, I now think I have the answer. I was given a 5/6 player box dated 2007, but the colour matches the lighter teal of the 2012 expansion box.

I now think Seafarers was rereleased in 2012 with new thicker hexes, but they forgot to amend the copyright date on the box. I have no official confirmation, but it seems the logical explanation based on the boxes and contents.

The front artwork remains the same. The rear artwork is redesigned and for the first time the copyright data moves to the side panel of the box. It is also the introduction of the Gamegenic logo to the rear.
